Melissa's background includes over 20 years of experience in accounting, auditing, taxation and consulting; specializing in qualified and welfare benefit plan services. Melissa has been named to the "2015 Most Powerful Women in Accounting" list by CPA Practice Advisor.
Melissa has developed and directed a highly specialized qualified and welfare benefit plan audit practice for the Rocky Mountain region. Melissa has provided services to some of the largest pension plans in the region. She has successfully consulted with clients of various sizes on plan-related matters including compliance issues, plan design and financial reporting issues.
Melissa is also experienced in working with clients on a variety of plan qualification issues (i.e., identification, correction and resolution procedures with governmental agencies), preparation and/or review of Form 5500 filings, due diligence reviews, and operational reviews. She has also worked with governmental plans on GASB financial reporting requirements, and 403(b) plans on various compliance, filing and reporting matters.
Developing good working relationships with clients is of primary importance to Melissa. She is able to provide a highly specialized level of service as a result of being at a local firm with a year-round dedicated team and the breadth and depth of a national firm.
Melissa has developed and presents national training programs for employee benefit plan auditors and consultants. She is a member of a national technical team responsible for development of firm-wide audit policies, procedures and training programs and participated as a member of a practice review expert team in this area. Melissa has been a guest speaker on qualified plan matters at the annual Western Pension Benefits Conference, the American Women's Society of CPA's annual conference, and the National AICPA Employee Benefits annual conference as well as the AICPA's Employee Benefit Plan Audit Quality Center Webcasts.
